Who we are
As a community-led and independent organisation, SCF aims to serve as a bridge — connecting local generosity, knowledge, and partnerships with the needs and opportunities within our neighbourhoods. From tackling disadvantage and social exclusion to supporting environmental sustainability and celebrating local culture, SCF is about empowering the people who call this place home.
As a sub-fund of the Australian Communities Foundation, SCF has access to trusted donation and grant administration services. This also means that donations to SCF are fully tax-deductible.
How we work
At SCF, we believe that lasting change comes from within the community — when people come together to give, act, and care for one another. We build long-term relationships and partnerships by connecting those who want to give with those already making a difference.
We are of and from the community and are here for the long haul. Through strategic giving and local knowledge, we are building lasting community capital that is adaptable to and supportive of our community’s changing needs. We don’t just respond to challenges — we aim to help eliminate them, creating meaningful and lasting impact.
The Movement
We’re proud to be part of a growing national movement of over 60 community foundations across Australia — and the newest foundation in Victoria; the first to be established since 2016. Our focus is the Port Phillip region, where we’re already working to mobilise local resources for long-term community benefit.
Community foundations are a structured way for a community to unlock its many resources, build collective capacity, and affect lasting social change. As a sub-fund of the Australian Communities Foundation, Australia’s only national community foundation, we access expert financial management, operational and strategic advice and administrative support.
